Maths Library United States Grade 6 Grade 6 math, age 11 to 12 In Grade 6, students transition to middle school mathematics by mastering operations with multi-digit decimals and dividing fractions by fractions. They are introduced to negative numbers, the full four-quadrant coordinate plane, ratio and rate reasoning, and algebraic expressions and one-step equations. Students also expand their geometric understanding to the area of polygons and surface area, while learning foundational concepts of statistical variability.
